In this class we will combine group activities, role playing, and robust discussions as we dive deeper into “The Art of Being a Good Sport.” We’ll talk about winning vs losing, success vs failure, and progress vs perfection. We’ll unearth tools for coping with disappointment, failure, and loss. We’ll go over strategies for staying at the top of our academic, athletic, extracurricular, and interpersonal games. And, each day will include the creation of an art project that complements the day’s activities.

Description

Our children are exposed to competitive situations from a very early age. More children than ever are participating in higher level competitive sports, both standardized testing and rigorous academic standards create additional competition in the classroom, and an increasing amount of children put insurmountable pressure on themselves to be perfect, which can be the catalyst for myriad emotional, physical, and social problems.

In this class we will combine group activities, role playing, and robust discussions as we dive deeper into “The Art of Being a Good Sport.” We’ll talk about winning vs losing, success vs failure, and progress vs perfection. We’ll unearth tools for coping with disappointment, failure, and loss. We’ll go over strategies for staying at the top of our academic, athletic, extracurricular, and interpersonal games. And, each day will include the creation of an art project that complements the day’s activities.

This is going to be an empowering, creative, and enlightening program for your sons and daughters. You may choose to send your child for one, two, or all three days (three day registration appears here).

FINE PRINT:

  • Class will run on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, April 18-20 from 9:30 a.m.—12:30 p.m.
  • *For multiple days, you will need to pick your day, add it to cart, and then repeat the process for multiple days. Once all days have been added, you can check out.  
  • This class is for boys and girls from 1st-7th grade. Children will be expected to participate in group activities, share perspectives, and work independently on detail-oriented art projects.
  • People registering for all three days will receive a $25 discount. Individual days are priced at $45 per day. All materials are included.
  • For a sibling discount, please select from the drop down box. Up to two additional siblings may each attend the program for 1/2 off.
  • We will be spending some time outside each day, weather permitting.
  • Please send your child with a peanut/tree nut-free snack and drink each day. And sunscreen.
