I eluded to this last week on my Facebook page, and this is the post some of you have been waiting for. My husband and his business partner, Alan, have launched a new business. He has spent countless hours over the past six months doing market analysis, networking, vetting, and putting the business plan together—infusing every little detail with the passion he has for helping student-athletes be the best they can be, both on and off the field. And, I have spent many, many night and weekend hours helping him get this venture launch-ready. Today is the day…

The thing about Bob is that he has a gift. He knows he has a gift. And he has spent the better part of the last 30 years honing that gift, refining it, and sharing it with the world. That’s one of the things I love most about him: he knows exactly who he is and what he has to offer. Unlike me, he has never had to take a personal and professional time-out to figure out who he is and what he wants to do with his life…he has always known. His path has been crystal clear from the start.

For those of you that don’t know my husband, he is best known as a coach. And a damn good one. He is an alchemist of his craft, literally making magic happen on the sidelines. He inspires the uninspirable. He motivates the unmotivated. He wins when he should lose. He makes the mediocre feel as though they are the best. He turns winners into champions. He has a knack for seeing the oft-overlooked gifts and talents in others and helping them excel. Part of the reason he is so successful is his unwavering integrity. The other part is that he is just as concerned, if not more so, with the character and moral compass of his athletes than he is with their athletic prowess and performance on the field. He wants the best for his kids, motivating even those who were willing to settle. And, he stays connected and invested in their lives, long after they have turned in their uniforms. This magic formula of his attracts a lot of good kids to his programs; good kids who become great under his unwavering dedication and watchful eye. It is also going to be the driving force behind this new venture.

I couldn’t help but feel a wave of pride as I heard him Skype with his first client yesterday, a student and soccer player from England, who desperately wants to come to the States, play college soccer, and get a great education.  He is going to help this kid get seen, where he would have been otherwise overlooked. He is going to help him pick a school that is in alignment with his academic, athletic, and financial goals. He is then going get this kid the support of a college soccer coach, which will increase his likelihood of being accepted at his top schools. He knows which showcases this kid should fly to the states for, and which ones to avoid. And, to top it all off, he is going to save this family thousands and thousands of dollars because he knows where the money is and how to access it. He knows things about the college process that most families are completely in the dark about. Alan and he are going to change a lot of lives for the better and introduce many students and families to opportunities they never even knew they had.

So, without further ado, I would like to introduce you to Standout Recruiting Consultants. If you are the parent of a high school student-athlete and need more information about the college process, please reach out and see if their services are a good fit for you. If you are the parent of a child who is looking at prep school/private school, this is another great reason to be in touch. The college process doesn’t start in your child’s junior and senior years…if done right, it starts long before that with some very specific and integral steps.

One of the little-known things I love about this partnership is that Bob coached Alan at Rivers, helped him through the college and recruiting process, and opened his eyes to opportunities he didn’t even know he had. After graduating, Alan then came back to work at Rivers, is now Bob’s assistant soccer coach, and is paying it forward in the Admissions Office as well. Things have come full circle for this duo—the student has now become the co-teacher! The gifts Bob possesses on and off the field, Alan possesses in Admissions. They make a great team and are looking forward to being of service! They are both based in New England, but as illustrated by their European client, they have connections far and wide and their reach is global. Get in touch with them today.
