We are so excited to be bringing the Self Esteem Through Art studio to Aquidneck Island in September 2022 and we’re kicking things off with this class for middle students in Middletown, Newport, Portsmouth, and surrounding areas. This will be a six-week series on Monday afternoons. Each week will be focused on different locations in and around Aquidneck Island (think bridges, beaches, secret hideaways, and so much more) and we’ll create unique and beautiful art projects using a wide assortment of products, techniques, and substrates to create one-of-a-kind interpretations of those spaces and places.

Description

After twelve phenomenal and memorable years in Massachusetts, the Self Esteem Through Art studio is thrilled to lay down roots in Rhode Island starting in September 2022! This class will combine geographical, historical, ecological, and artistic elements for a really fun and unique experience. Our in-depth lessons will cover a wide assortment of educational and creative components designed to foster a spirit of curiosity and wonder (and maybe even a deeper appreciation for this beautiful place we live in).

Each week, we will use an assortment of mediums and techniques to create an art project that captures the magic and majesty of each location. I hope your kids are as excited about this upcoming class as I am!

Class Goals:

This will be a mixed media class with both two-dimensional and three-dimensional projects. The goal is to learn something new each week while developing (or enhancing) a love of the natural world and an appreciation for the splendor and majesty of this part of New England. The class format will be engaging, interactive, collaborative, and creative.

As we work on our unique projects, we will be incorporating elements like topographical discussions, color studies, and much more!

  • The empowering, judgment-free way they are encouraged to approach not only their time in class, but their time on their artwork. Both help to increase their sense of self and foster their creative spirits.
  • Developing their unique artistic style as we work on an assortment of fun, tactile, and unique projects.
  • Critical thinking, self-awareness, and abstract thought are huge parts of our weekly classes. The girls learn the power of sharing their thoughts and their art in a supportive environment.
  • The connection between life, nature, and art will get them thinking, talking, creating, and collaborating! Exploring in this manner is so good for the soul!

Fine Print:

  • This SIX-week continuation will run on Mondays from September 19—October 31.
  • Class runs from 4—6 p.m. each week.
  • Classes will take place at our studio: 1038 Aquidneck Ave, Middletown (2nd floor)
  • This class is age-appropriate and open to all children in 5th—8th grade and participants from other demographic areas are welcome and encouraged to attend.
  • Class fee includes ALL art materials, instruction, emotional and artistic support. And snacks! 🙂
  • Sibling discount available. Please message me for details.
  • You will receive a welcome email from me approximately one week before class starts with additional details. Please be sure to include your best email address when signing up.
  • Registrants to my classes are added to my email newsletter list. You will begin to receive sporadic Self Esteem Through Art emails.
  • When registering, you will be prompted to enter an email address and phone number. Please use your BEST contact info in these fields as this is how I communicate with you for the duration of the program.
  • We are still in a pandemic and our goal is the safety of each participant. You may be asked to provide proof of vaccination prior to the start of class. Depending on recommendations of state and local health officials (ex: CDC and RIDOH), masks may be required. Should quarantines or stay at home orders take place, we will revert to online classes (materials will be given to each student). We’ll be fluid with this and see where we stand with covid protocols as the school year gets underway. 
  • If you have any additional questions, please reach out to me before signing up. Once you sign up, we have entered into a contract with each other.
  • There are NO REFUNDS for this class and the class fee is not transferable, so please be sure you/your child can commit to all SIX weeks.  
  • Class size is limited to 12 children. Registration closes September 5, or whenever class sells out.
