Roots and Wings: A Class for Parents and Children

Join us on Sunday, May 21 for a meaningful and memorable event with your child(ren)! There is a quote from Johann Wolfgang von Goethe that reads: “There are only two lasting bequests we can hope to give our children. One of these is roots. The other, wings.” This class and project will be entirely based on that quote. Each parent/child pair will work collaboratively on a diptych (two piece) canvas project.

There is no artistic experience necessary for this class! All instruction will be provided in this all levels class. The focus will be on the process and the experience of sharing in a creative endeavor with your child(ren). Leave the typical pressures, responsibilities, and deadlines behind, and spend an afternoon making lasting memories (and a meaningful artistic collaboration) that will be looked back on for years to come. What a perfect way to celebrate Mother’s or Father’s Day!

Description

This will be an event where parents actively participate right alongside their child(ren). An opportunity for adults to reconnect to a bit of childlike wonder and for kids to see their parents as something else beside provider, disciplinarian, taxi driver, and short order cook. Let’s reframe and reshape the parent/child dynamic, at least for a finite moment in time. This event will be a thoughtful combination of creativity, connection, and good old fashioned FUN!

Shared experiences and hands on activities are opportunities for authentic connection! Join us for this memorable experience in our tranquil, welcoming space.

 

Fine Print:

  • This event is for parents and their school-aged children. (*children should be able to focus and collaborate for 2 hours)
  • All genders are welcome, both parent and child(ren) alike.
  • This event will take place at our studio on May 21 from 2:30-4:30 p.m.: 1038 Aquidneck Ave, Middletown RI (2nd floor)
  • Registrants to my classes are added to my email newsletter list. You will begin to receive sporadic Self Esteem Through Art emails.
  • When registering, you will be prompted to enter an email address and phone number. Please use your BEST contact info in these fields as this is how I communicate with you prior to class. You will receive a welcome email from me approximately one week before class starts with additional details.
  • If you have any additional questions, please reach out to me before signing up. Once you sign up, we have entered into a contract with each other.
  • As materials need to be purchased well in advance, there are NO REFUNDS for this class and the class fee is not transferable. Please double check your calendars before committing.  
  • Class size is limited to 8 parent/child groups. Registration closes May 15, or whenever class sells out.
