The Art of Self Love

$49.00

We have a special niche in the studio: the Self Esteem Through Art programs boost the social/emotional well-being of children with an incomparable blend of art-based empowerment, love, support, and empathy. The studio is a safe space that encourages teens to believe they can do anything they put their minds to: they can overcome adversity, they can be a good example and a role-model, they can step outside of their comfort zones, they can act in integrity, they can get the grade, make the team, get the lead, tell their story, create the masterpiece, and they can definitely love the skin they’re in!

Self Esteem Through Art helps teens hone their gifts. We work on activities that help their cognitive, emotional, social, academic, and physical growth. The studio is one of those special spaces that believes in possibility. Adolescence is hard—we help your teens rise to the challenge with building blocks based in self-esteem, empathy, integrity, kindness, and creativity. Always creativity—our program wouldn’t work half as well without it!

This particular class will be focused on self-love and self-acceptance; very important building blocks of adolescence and beyond! The program is open for all children ages 12-19 who identify as female (including girls, those who are gender questioning, and transgender youth).

This class will take place on Friday, May 12 from 5-7 p.m. A minimum of 8 attendees are needed to run this program. There are no refunds, so please read the full program description below before registering. Can’t wait to see you in the studio!

Description

Class Benefits:

  • The studio is a safe, judgment-free space.
  • Art is a robust growth tool where you combine words, color, texture, and individuality to create something unlike anything else that exists in time and space.
  • Art encourages and fosters critical thought.
  • Time in the studio helps kids de-stress, self-soothe, and self-regulate. It is a powerful lifelong habit to have and the more comfortable kids get with it now, the more they are likely to turn to it in times of strife. This helps steer them away from more DIS-empowering habits like risk-taking and self-harm.
  • Art gives everyone a voice and being creative is a way to tangibly convey what words cannot adequately communicate or explain in a logical, linear way. Got a kid who shuts down? A creativity practice can help.
  • Taking time to step away from electronics and be creative is a powerful form of self-care, and restores emotional equilibrium post-trauma/drama.
  • Time in the studio is FUN!!!

Your Kids Will Love:

  • Exploring art techniques and group discussions that help create a sense of community and inclusivity, increase their sense of self, foster their creative spirits, and encourage them to be the kind of person they can be proud of.
  • Actively taking part in their own powerful growth and unique artistic style.
  • Working alone and in small groups. Getting regular practice using their voices and speaking from their hearts.
  • Engaging in the creative arts and building on the foundation of artistic and creative thought.
  • If comfortable, sharing their story in a judgment-free environment.
