Class Description:

Humans have an innate need for authentic connection. The Self Esteem Through Art studio and all of its classes are founded on the fundamental concepts of courage, compassion, and connection. Our hope is that our guests will show up wholeheartedly to our safe, judgment-free environment, be willing to tell their stories through assorted artistic mediums, extend empathy and understanding to others, and engage in authentic connection in an often disconnected world.

In this class, we are going to engage in a deep exploration of the very important concepts of courage, compassion, connection, and worthiness. We will utilize a combination of group discussion, deep reflection, and powerful expressive art practices to delve deeper into these important topics. Brené Brown’s book, The Gifts of Imperfection, will be required reading for this course and we will dissect each chapter and bond over our findings and interpretations (*attendees are responsible for securing their own copy of the book). Throughout this series, we will be exploring Brené’s ten guideposts for wholehearted living while working on assorted mixed-media art concepts and techniques—including, but not limited to, the creation of a unique vintage spool album. This will become a place to record your thoughts, get clarity and insight, and boldly put one foot in front of the other on our collective and respective journeys.

Fine Print:

• Choose your preferred day (either Wednesday from 6-8:30 p.m. or Friday from 10-12:30 p.m.). This ten-week series will take place beginning the week of September 11 and going through the week of November 13. Wednesday series starts on September 13 and Friday starts on September 15. This lengthier series will take us through the fall and will be the only series offered prior to the end of the 2023 calendar year.
• Advance registration is required!  A minimum of five women in each session is needed to run each session (spread the word and bring a friend). Registration will close on August 30, or whenever class sells out.
• The studio is located at 1038 Aquidneck Ave in Middletown, RI (enter through the door on the right, 2nd floor).
• All art materials are included in the fee. Attendees are responsible for obtaining their own copy of the book.
• You will receive a welcome email from us approximately one week before class starts with additional details. Please be sure to include your best email address when signing up.
• Registrants are added to our email newsletter lists. You will begin to receive sporadic Self Esteem Through Art emails.
• If we need to make any weather-related cancellations, we will tack on classes to the end of the series.
• We will offer ONE additional make up class at the end of the series for anyone who has had to miss class content. Date TBD. In addition, you may switch back and forth between sessions upon occasion (for example, if you have an appointment on Friday, you may attend the Wednesday the same week).
• If you have any additional questions, please reach out to me before signing up. Once you sign up, we have entered into a contract with each other.
• Due to the advance preparation and extensive materials required for this class, there will be no refunds.
