We’re not even halfway through the Harry Potter series and the kids have been begging for MORE: more weeks, more projects, more ways to make the magic last. They asked, so I’m going to deliver. On December 4 + 11 from 4—5:30, we are going to work on our very own version of The Marauder’s Map (from Prisoner of Azkaban). Using “parchment” and a very special, versatile, and unique map-making technique, each child will be able to create and illustrate their very own version of the wizarding world. Their completed maps will make a phenomenal framed piece!

*Your child doesn’t need to have participated in the 10-week Harry Potter series to attend. This is a stand-alone mini series that is open to kids in grades 2-8 (*but is also a great complement to the series if your kids want to keep going). Description

Class Goals:

This will be a magical, mixed-media class. The class format will be engaging, interactive, collaborative, and creative. Everyone will learn a unique and versatile technique for creating a map.

What the Kids Will Love:

  • Disconnecting from stress, technology, and peer pressure while they focus on something FUN!
  • The empowering, judgment-free way they are encouraged to approach not only their time in class, but their time on their artwork. Both help to increase their sense of self and foster their creative spirits.
  • Developing their unique artistic style as we work on an assortment of fun, tactile, and unique projects.
  • Critical thinking, self-awareness, and abstract thought are huge parts of our weekly classes. They will learn the power of sharing their thoughts and their art in a supportive environment.
  • Self-discovery in a creative and judgment-free environment is so good for the soul!

Fine Print:

  • This two week mini series takes place on December 4 + 11 (*it is exclusive of the 10-week Harry Potter series and registration is open to everyone).
  • Class runs from 4—5:30 p.m. each week.
  • Classes take place at our studio: 1038 Aquidneck Ave in Middletown, RI (2nd floor)
  • Registration is limited to 12 children and pre-registration is required.
  • This class is open to children in 2nd—8th grade and participants from other demographic areas are welcome and encouraged to attend.
  • THE MAJORITY OF MY CLASSES CONSIST OF REPEAT ATTENDEES AND SPACES WILL GO QUICKLY. Sign up ASAP.
  • Class fee includes art materials, instruction, emotional and artistic support. And snacks. 🙂
  • Sibling and military discount available. Please contact us directly for a coupon code that can be used.
  • You will receive a welcome email from me approximately one week before class starts with additional details.
  • Registrants to my classes are added to my email newsletter list. You will begin to receive sporadic Self Esteem Through Art emails. When registering, you will also be prompted to enter an email address and phone number. Please use your BEST contact info in these fields as this is how I communicate with you for the duration of the program (and I need to be able to get a hold of you in the event of an emergency). You will receive a welcome email from me approximately one week before class starts with additional details.
  • Who knows what will be going on in terms of COVID and other infectious diseases. We will follow all recommendations from CDC, and state and local health recommendations. 
  • If you have any additional questions, please reach out to me before signing up. Once you sign up, we have entered into a contract with each other.
  • We order materials in advance. As such, there are NO REFUNDS for this class. If your child is unable to make it, you will be given a credit towards another program of equal or lesser value.  
  • Registration closes December 1, or whenever class sells out.
