Description

The Self Esteem Through Art studio is thrilled to launch our “Wanderlust!” series where we explore some of the United States most beautiful national parks. This class will combine geographical, historical, ecological, and artistic elements for a really fun and unique experience. Our in-depth lessons will cover a wide assortment of educational and creative components designed to foster a spirit of curiosity and wonder (and maybe even some wanderlust).

Each week, we will explore a different park—learning about its location, topography, climate, and habitat. We will then use an assortment of mediums and techniques to create an art project that captures the magic and majesty of each location. I hope your girls are as excited about this upcoming class as I am!

Class Goals:

This will be a mixed media class with both two-dimensional and three-dimensional projects. The goal is to learn something new each week while developing (or enhancing) a love of the natural world and an appreciation for the splendor and majesty of each park. The class format will be engaging, interactive, collaborative, and creative.

We will be learning things such as:

  • Where the parks are located
  • What flora and fauna is native to each area
  • The topography of the parks
  • Color studies of each park (which will help in their artwork)
  • And much, much more!

Personal Growth Benefits:

This class is going to be an educational and artistic door-opener. The majority of us have been in various states of lockdown and isolation since March of 2020. It’s time to explore—broaden our geographic horizons, foster feelings of wanderlust, and maybe even start to develop a bucket list of places we would like to eventually visit (or revisit) in person!

  • This class is going to be a beautiful blend of both left-brained and right-brained activities. Each week will focus on both cognitive and creative activities.
  • It will help the girls develop an even deeper appreciation for and connection to the natural world around them.
  • They will get to learn more about ecosystems and our part in keeping those ecosystems healthy.
  • Art is an unparalleled confidence-booster! Any time the girls can learn and practice a new creative skill, it dramatically improves their self-confidence and self-esteem.

What the Girls Will Love:

  • Each girl will be given her VERY OWN supply kit. She will be responsible for this kit for the entirety of this course and all materials are hers to keep—enabling her to continue with her creative pursuits long after class is over.
  • Disconnecting from stress, technology, and peer pressure while they focus on something FUN!
  • The empowering, judgment-free way they are encouraged to approach not only their time in class, but their time on their artwork. Both help to increase their sense of self and foster their creative spirits.
  • Developing their unique artistic style as we work on an assortment of fun, tactile, and unique projects.
  • Critical thinking, self-awareness, and abstract thought are huge parts of our weekly classes. The girls learn the power of sharing their thoughts and their art in a supportive environment.
  • Immersing themselves in the beauty and splendor of these natural treasures! Exploring in this manner is so good for the soul!
